Ernest Ronald Denney Sr.'s Obituary
Ron was born in Dallas, Texas, on August 6, 1941, to Ernest Hubert and Nellie Lamae Denney. He joined his Lord and savior on April 3, 2009, in his home surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Denney, and three sons; Ernest Ronald Denney, Jr. and wife Deedee, Steven Wayne Denney and wife Lizbeth, and Jared Keith Denney; five grandchildren Keaton, Kendall, Molly, Chelsea and Lee, and great grandson Isaiah, sisters Sherry Tipton and husband Dorman, Mary Catherine Hughes and husband Paul, Cynthia Warner and husband David, brothers-in-law Jeff Young, Alvin and wife Ura Lee, Cecil and wife Gloria, sisters-in-law Wanda and husband Jimmy, Melva and husband Roy, Karen and husband Bruce, Almeda and husband Steve, and many nieces and nephews. Ron and Geraldine met as teenagers and married in 1961 in Oklahoma City. They soon started their family and moved to Dallas, Texas. Their life together took them on many adventures. Ron lived the true spirit of entrepreneurship and was a savvy businessman. He was never afraid to try anything new and he always made it a success. He owned a painting business and Casa Homes, and for 41 years owned and operated Denney Motor Company. He was passionate about his car business and made many friends throughout the years. He valued his friendships, mentored many that were new to the business, and was a great storyteller of the “old” days in the car business. In his personal life, he was so energetic and always working on projects – from renovating his home to restoring old cars. He liked to water ski and snow ski, motorcycling, and cruising the lake in his boat. He loved to travel. Every trip he took was an adventure. His road trips were never planned completely. He always wondered what was at the end of every road and often took that road to find out. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh. He was smart and well-read. He loved history and was very curious about everything. Most of all, he loved the Lord and his family. He was devoted to his wife, his sons and his sisters. He always looked out for us and did many special things for us. To his family, he was known as Papa Bear, Pop, Dad, Grandpa, Son, Brother. He was our rock, the chief of our family, our protector and provider. We will always hold dear memories of him in our hearts and will strive to live our lives as he wanted us to. Words can never truly describe how much he means to his family. We look forward to the day we will all be reunited in heaven. We love him so and know it is not good-bye, but just “so long” for now.
