Ernest "Ernesto" Gil's Obituary
Ernesto Gil, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and retired Baptist minister, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 14, 2025, He passed away peacefully at his home in Rowlett, Texas, surrounded by family.
From an early age, Ernesto developed a deep and abiding faith in Christ that shaped every aspect of his life and ministry. He faithfully served the Lord for 42 years as a Baptist minister, preaching the Gospel, shepherding congregations, and pointing others to the saving grace found in Jesus Christ alone. Ernesto pastored churches throughout Texas, serving congregations in South Texas and West Texas, and ultimately retired from Primera Iglesia Bautista de Rowlett.
Ernesto was a devoted husband to his wife, Grace, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Together, they built a Christ-centered home marked by love, service, and faithfulness. Ernesto was a loving father to his daughter, Lila, and a proud grandfather to his two grandsons, Alexander and Nathan, whom he cherished deeply.
Those who knew Ernesto will remember his steady faith, biblical wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the Word of God. Though he will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched, we rejoice in the blessed assurance that he is now in the presence of his Savior.
Ernesto is survived by his wife, his daughter, his grandsons, his sisters, his brother, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and a sister.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 27, at 10:30 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Before the service, family and friends may gather in the Memorial Chapel for quiet reflection from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the SPCA of Texas, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, TX 75212.
Ernesto Gil, amado esposo, padre, abuelo y ministro bautista jubilado, partió para estar con su Señor y Salvador Jesucristo el 14 de diciembre de 2025, a la edad de 68 años. Falleció en paz en su hogar en Rowlett, Texas, rodeado de su familia.
Desde una edad temprana, Ernesto desarrolló una fe profunda y constante en Cristo que dio forma a cada aspecto de su vida y ministerio. Sirvió fielmente al Señor durante 42 años como ministro bautista, predicando el Evangelio, pastoreando congregaciones y guiando a otros hacia la gracia salvadora que se encuentra únicamente en Jesucristo.
