Ernest Howard Mayeux's Obituary
MAYEUX, ERNEST HOWARD “Poppie” was born on February 10, 1921 in New Orleans, La to Adras and Loretta Mauyeux. He served in the U.S. Marines as a Captain during the World War II, flying B-25’s in the South Pacific. Ernie received two Medals, A Gold Star and two Commendation Ribbons for his valor. When he returned from the war, he worked in the Life Insurance business in Houston and upon moving his family to Dallas in 1964 was the Vice President of the Girard Life Insurance Company. Ernie went on to Trammell Crow Company as a managing partner in the high-rise division and served two terms as President, and as life member, of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). He was a champion of industry education and led the Dallas Program to one of the largest and most active in the nation. Ernie studied Business at Loyola University in New Orleans and at the University of Houston. Ernie loved the Lord, his family and friends dearly and enjoyed sketching, painting, swimming and fishing. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie, and son, Mark. Ernie is survived by his children, Stephen, Michelle and husband Michael, Melanie and husband, Cliff, Michael and daughter-in-law, Paige; and grandchildren, Ryan, Alex and husband Scott, Jessie and husband, Jonathan, Katie, Laura, Cole and Brandon; and great grandchildren, Lillie and Edie. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75244, 972-934-8388 with visitation 1 hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 PM.
