Estella Reyes Rodriguez's Obituary
Estella Reyes Rodriguez, age 85, was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2017. Estella was born on July 9, 1932 to Petra Reyes in Taylor, Texas. She was the youngest of 7 children. On February 7, 1948, she married Mike Vasquez Rodriguez in Dallas, Texas. Later they were proud parents of 4 girls: Mary, Sylvia, Tessie, and Toni. Those who knew them well referred to the family as “Mike and Stella and the girls”. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her growing family of sons-in-law: Robert Hernandez, Larry Roberts, and Alex Panay, and her grandchildren: Adam and Joelle, Marc and Krista, Jonathan and Stefanie, Jordan and Samantha, Matthew and Ashley, and Joseph. Finally she was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren: Lucy, Adam II, fondly called Deuce, Campbell, Jacob, Sutton, and Joshua, Oliver and Stella, her namesake, Lilly and Jack.Having accepted the Lord in her early life, she became a member of First Mexican Baptist Church, serving devotedly in the Women’s Missionary Union, Sunday School, the kitchen committee, and the knitting group. She and Mike worked to provide a home and the best education they could for their daughters. Estella was regarded as a wonderful friend and neighbor, and was known for her immaculate home and garden.In her last few years, her best buddy was a Westie Terrier who she named Benny Goodman. Benny was named after Mike’s favorite big band leader.Her beloved husband of 39 years, Mike as well as her older sisters and brothers preceded Estella in death. A brother, Antonio Reyes, and several loving nieces and nephews also survive her.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, it was Estella’s request that donations be made to her beloved church, First Mexican Baptist Church. 10010 Betty Jane Ln, Dallas, TX 75229.
