Estelle Butcher's Obituary
BUTCHER, ESTELLE KNEAREM age 87, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2014 in Fort Worth, TX after a 12 year heroic journey through dementia. She was born to the late Harry and Della Knearem on January 12, 1927 in New Iberia, LA. Estelle was raised in Oak Cliff and graduated from Adamson High School in 1945. She worked for Sears & Roebuck for four years then married Raymond Butcher with whom she had two children, Hurley and Teri. After being a homemaker, she ran the family business, Butcher’s Garage, with her husband until their retirement in 1992. After her daughter’s divorce, she was the rock that sustained her granddaughter and daughter’s lives for 11 years until Teri met a wonderful man, Jeff. Estelle loved to meet life’s challenges head on with no room for complaints. She was a member of the Catholic Church as well as the Sons of Hermann Lodge #22. Estelle was a creative soul who loved movies, bowling, learning, spending time with family, and wrote over 100 poems. She was quite a “unique” lady and anyone who knew her knows exactly what that means. Her laugh, radiant smile, honesty, work ethic, wit and wisdom will surely be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and son Hurley. Mrs. Butcher is survived by her daughter and husband, Teri and Jeff Burgess; granddaughter, Christina Esquivel; granddaughter and spouse, Jennifer and Julio Rodriguez; great-grandson, Ezra Alexander Rodriguez; sister, Shirley Hutchison; and several nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers for their help and comfort given to Estelle during her season of dementia. A special thanks to Dr. Edid Ramos for being an amazing doctor and friend. Let the good times roll, Dr. Ramos! Family will receive family and friends on June 8th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held on June the 9th at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home at 12:30 PM with interment to immediately follow.
