Ethel M. "Eff" Allen's Obituary
Ethel M. "Eff" Allen, 96 of Rockwall, Texas was born September 12, 1925, in Wesley, Pennsylvania to Lucius and Francis Eakin. Eff passed away on February 12, 2022. She married Bill Allen, Sr. on December 24, 1943, in Danville, Kentucky and was married for 53 tremendous years.
Eff and her husband raised their children in Garland, Texas and were dedicated members of Axe Memorial Methodist Church. Once their kids grew up, she and her husband moved to Dallas, Texas where they became members of Unity Church of Dallas.
Eff worked for J.W. Bateson Construction that became Centex Construction and then later became Balfour Beatty Construction.
As retirement neared, Eff and her husband Bill made the "out of the blue" decision to sell their house, buy a motor home, and set out to enjoy places they had never seen. They were able to spend 7 years traveling through the United States and making great memories! Because she knew how to do Foot Reflexology, she would barter for things like haircuts with other people at the parks where they stayed. She loved her time on the road!
She retired early at 64, returned to work at 71, and retired permanently at 83.
She is remembered by her kind and loving spirit, how much she loved playing cards and Dominoes, and her love of a nice walk. You could always find her cheering on her favorite team, the Cowboys, with gusto. Most of all, she was dedicated to spending quality time with her family and friends whom she loved dearly.
Eff never met a stranger! She loved to talk to people. She was a great listener. She could hold her own in any conversation about sports, politics, and not surprisingly, the best place to get good deals on clothes! Eff was a strong, independent woman who didn't hesitate to speak her mind, but shared her opinions with kindness and love. She always had a positive attitude towards life. Eff was selfless and never put her needs ahead of those she loved. She was a loving example of what we should all want to be when we grow up!!!!
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 8 siblings.
Eff is survived by her children, Bill Allen, Jr. and his wife, Jan, Amy Wilson and her husband, Boyce, and Cheri Krakowski and her husband, Grant; her grandchildren, Patrick Allen, Michaela Allen Loeffler, Leslee Wilson Graves, Amy Wilson Ananian, Charles Kuykendall, Jr., Andy Kuykendall, and Scott Krakowski; her great-grandchildren, Max Allen, Faith Graves, Ava Graves, Jonathan Kuykendall, Lauren Kuykendall Dotson, and Cory Kuykendall; her great-great grandchildren, Grant Dotson and Juniper Dotson.
