Ethelmarie Cronholm's Obituary
CRONHOLM, ETHELMARIE passed away on November 4, 2013 in Mount Vernon, Texas. Ethelmarie was born April 29, 1922 in Galveston, Texas to Joseph Edward Maggs and Lillie Sarah Maggs. Nick named “Maggie”, she attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas (now TWU) and graduated with a B.S. degree in “Fashion and Costume Design “in 1944. She was also one of Texas A&M’s sweethearts which they chose from TWU. On November 7, 1941 she married her childhood sweetheart, Carl Cronholm. They met in Galveston and both graduated from Ball High. They spent many happy hours courting each other on the island. Following marriage, Ethelmarie worked for “Sanger Brothers” as a fashion illustrator. After three children, she was a substitute teacher, was active in the PTA, a Den mother for Cub Scouts, and became a very busy housewife and mom. She lived in Dallas all her married life and was a member of East Dallas Christian until 1965 when she became a member of Highland Christian Church. Carl and Ethelmarie were very active as members of the “First Knighters Square Dance Club”. She was also a “Coronet Book Club” member/President and member of “The Elks Club”. After Carl’s death in 1994, she lived in Dallas until 2006, and then moved to Mount Vernon to be near her daughter Yvonne Scott. Greg Cronholm, her eldest son lives in Plainview, Texas, and Dr. Mike Cronholm resides in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her sons, Greg and wife, Rita, Mike and daughter, Yvonne Scott and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Jay Scott, Marie Cronholm , Brittany Puryear, Trenton Cronholm, Catherine Cronholm and 3 great grandchildren. Ethelmarie went to be with God knowing her family adored her with all their hearts. She is gone but not forgotten. She will always be in our hearts with her wit, humor and strong devotion to God and family. Service will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Highlands Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to service.
