Ethelyne Marguerite Richardson's Obituary
Ethelyne Marguerite Burns Richardson, age 93, went to be with her Lord on February 27, 2012 in Houston. Through her grace and unselfishness, Ethelyne lived every day in the fullness of her Christian faith. Her husband of 51 years, Morris C. Richardson, preceded her in death in January 2001. Born on October 15, 1918 in Mott, North Dakota, she is survived by two sons, one daughter, and 12 grandchildren: John Richardson (Linda) of Dallas, children Anna, James (Candace), Jonathan, Joshua, Jordan and Sarah; Larry Richardson (Karen) of Delmar NY, children Katie, Sarah and David: and Janet Harrison (Tom) of Houston, and children Scott, June and Natalie. Ethelyne was a gifted musician and teacher, but was first and foremost a loving wife and mother. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1940, and then taught high school music, directed choirs, and performed as a vocal soloist in many churches in Topeka KS. In 1956, she and her family moved from Topeka to Amarillo TX, then to Dallas in 1965, then to Homewood IL in 1971, then back to the Dallas area in 1979. She moved to Houston in 2009 to live close to her daughter. A lifelong Presbyterian, she was a member of Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church (formerly Northminster Presbyterian) where she was very involved in Women’s Circle and the Adult Choir. She was a dedicated volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas for over 35 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Buckner Hospice Houston, 11111 Katy Freeway, Suite 620, Houston TX 77079.
