Etta Wilodene McDoniel Cooper's Obituary
Etta Wilodene McDoniel Cooper of Carrollton, Texas, passed away April 11, 2019, at Dallas Medical Center, Farmer’s Branch, Texas. She was born in Tuckerman, Arkansas, to Angus Jefferson McDoniel and Viola Etta Best McDoniel on August 20, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband,Winston Churchill Cooper Sr; parents, Angus and Viola; sisters, Violet Gobble and Pauline Hancock; her brother, Dennis McDoniel; her son, Jerald Douglas Cooper; one grandson, David Littrell and one granddaughter, Tracy Littrell. She is survived by her daughter, Shelba June Ireland; sons, Winston Churchill Cooper and Albert Dennis Cooper; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; seven great- great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.In her high school years she was an All-State basketball player and after graduation she married Winston Churchill Cooper Sr and traveled with him throughout the western states as he installed electrical lines for the REA. They eventually settled in Kirbyville, Texas and raised their family. After her husband’s death, she worked for Safeway Grocery for many years and then for Braniff Airlines. She traveled the world with Braniff and retired when Braniff closed down. She was a faithful life long member of the First Methodist Church. She was active in the Bible classes and was a member of the choir.She will be long remembered for her loving heart and generous nature.
