Etta Lee (Williams) Birchfield Martin's Obituary
Etta Lee ( Williams ) Birchfield Martin peacefully passed away on Thursday October 19,2023 with her daughter Cynthia by her side. Etta was the firstborn child of ten children to parents Richard and Lela Williams, eight brothers and one sister. She was born in Frankston, Texas. Etta learned responsibility of caring for her siblings while she was very young. She married Jack Birchfield on June 25,1951 in Rockwall, Texas. She and Jack lived in Dallas and they had three children; Cynthia, Teresa and Ricky.
Etta worked at Taylor Publishing for many years. When she retired she babysat two little bright spots to help her adjust. Their names are Kristie and Christopher ( Bubba.) They grew up calling her Grandma and always keep in touch. Etta loved flower gardening and kept a beautiful yard. She loved sewing and quilting. She and Jack traveled the country by motorhome with Uncle Lee Roy and Aunt Velma.
In February 1996 Etta married James Martin. They were married twenty five happy years. Etta was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lela Williams, husband Jack Birchfield, daughter, Teresa Ferris, brothers, Douglas, L.D., Richard, Larry and Jimmie Williams, sister, Lela Fay Sandidge, granddaughter, Becky Dillard, husband James Martin.
Those left to cherish her memory are Cynthia Dillard her daughter who faithfully help care for Etta the last two years. David Sr. her brother who was there for Etta for many years and enjoyed a close relationship with her, traveled, eat out and family events together. Her son Rick, brothers, Eddie and Oscar Williams, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Etta will forever live in the hearts and memory of those who knew and loved her.
