Eugene Dunwood Tilley's Obituary
On December 26, 2009, Eugene Dunwood Tilley, devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucille, daughter Harriet Canter and her husband Michael, daughter Nancy McKinney and her husband Dick, daughter Sue Tilley, two grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one step-great grandson, and three nephews. Tilley was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Ammye Tilley, sister Louise Rowan and brother Edward Tilley. Born on January 29, 1916 in Mineola, Texas, he graduated from Texas A&M in 1938 with a Business Administration degree. He married Lucille Schultz on November 9, 1940 prior to serving three and a half years during WWII. During the war he served in the U.S. Army in the Counter Intelligence Corps. He was attached to the 14th Army Air Corps in China, Burma, and India as a special investigator. After the war he returned to Dallas and began his forty year career with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as Account Executive in the Industrial Products Division. Tilley was a member of First Baptist Church of Dallas and was an avid golfer. Services will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 29th at 3:00. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, Coaches Outreach, First Baptist Dallas or the charity of your choice.
