Eugene Earl Wacker's Obituary
Eugene Earl Wacker, 86, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on February 6, 2026, in the city where he was born and where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and steady devotion.
Eugene was married to the love of his life, Jacque, for 60 years—a partnership marked by loyalty, laughter, and a quiet strength that anchored their family through every season. Together they raised two daughters, Shelley and Rebecca, whom Eugene adored and supported wholeheartedly. He was the kind of father who celebrated everything—whether it was a beautifully decorated Christmas tree or a major milestone like a new job. He never missed an opportunity to say, “Proud of you Girl,” and he meant it every time.
Eugene’s greatest joy was his family, especially his four grandchildren: Brighton, Hayden, Landon, and Amelia. He was their steady supporter and loudest fan, faithfully present at swim meets, sporting events, musical performances, and artistic showcases. Whether he was cheering from the stands, listening to a cello piece with pride, or simply spending time together, Eugene made each grandchild feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.
Eugene attended Adamson High School and Arlington State College.
A proud veteran, Eugene served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Stationed in France, he traveled throughout Europe during his time abroad—an experience that broadened his view of the world and remained a meaningful chapter in his life.
After returning home, he went on to dedicate over 26 years of service to Dallas Power & Light Company, retiring in 1992. Known for his strong work ethic and dependability, Eugene built a career that reflected the same steady character he brought to every part of his life.
Eugene was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed photography, camping, and being outdoors, and he had a lifelong love for reading—always curious, always learning. He also found joy in woodworking and music, playing the piano, banjo, and guitar. One of Eugene’s greatest gifts was his ability to connect with people. He loved conversation and could talk about nearly any topic, always with thoughtful insight and a sharp wit that kept others smiling.
Those who knew Eugene knew him as a gentle giant—strong, steady, and kind. He loved quietly but fiercely. He gave generously of his time, was always willing to lend a helping hand, and left behind a legacy of support, encouragement, and unwavering presence.
Eugene’s faith was important to him, and First Baptist Church was his spiritual home and place of worship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Reinhold Wacker; his brother, Charles Wacker; and his sister, June Wacker.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacque Wacker; daughters Shelley (husband Brad) Beauchamp and Rebecca (husband Todd) McDaniel; and grandchildren Brighton, Hayden & Landon Beauchamp, and Amelia McDaniel—each of whom carries forward his love, his values, and his steady pride.
Eugene will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery at 9:30 AM followed by the memorial service at 10:30 AM.
