Eula "Marie" Otey's Obituary
Eula “Marie” Otey was born on June 5th, 1944 in Abilene, Texas, passing away on September 7th, 2018 in Houston, Texas at the age of 74.Marie was preceded in death in 1995 by her husband of 24 years, Joe T. Collins and in 2016 by her husband of 14 years, R. Trevis Otey. She is survived by daughter Stephanie Koerner & husband Kevin of Houston, TX, daughter Robin King & husband Kelly of Leander, TX, sister Barbara Leonard of Corpus Christi, TX, niece Angela Kennedy of Melbourne, FL and 7 grandchildren in Austin and Houston.After graduating from Abilene High School, Marie married and relocated to Dallas, landing her first big job working for Timex. After which she started her career path in the insurance industry working from 1963-1970 for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas as a Claims Auditor, 1970-1986 Fidelity Union Life as Assistant Vice President of Policy Servicing and 1986-2003 AIG-American International Group as Director of Customer Service/Call Center. When time allowed, she enjoyed volunteering her time at a nearby school, crafting, decorating and getting to Las Vegas whenever she could. Marie had a way with people, never meeting a stranger, and enjoyed helping others on a daily basis. After retirement, she enjoyed her position as the receptionist at Lakewood Country Club.Marie will be remembered for her sense of fashion, independence, tenacity and ability to make friends wherever she went…but she will perhaps be best remembered for always being a child at heart.She will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her.A private ceremony was held with the family on November 23rd.
