Eunice McMills' Obituary
MCMILLS, EUNICE born February 15, 1925 and passed away April 29, 2014. Mrs. McMills was born in Roscoe, Texas on February 15, 1925. Daughter of Mollie and John Henry Harrison Butler, Eunice Butler grew up with three brothers and five sisters: Carl, Fred, Louie, Elva, Faye, Lenore, Norene, Mary, and Dorothy in the West Texas farming community. A bright and lively student, Eunice graduated as the Valedictorian from Trent High School in 1943. She moved with her sister Lenore to Dallas and met her future husband Henry McMills, who she married in 1945. The couple had two sons, Paul Andrew McMills and Bruce Wayne McMills. Eunice and Henry joined Royal Haven Baptist Church in Dallas right after the church was built in 1960. Henry was active as a deacon of the church and Eunice sang in the choir and was an active leader in the children’s Sunday school class and the Women’s Missionary Union. Eunice also had an active career as an office manager for doctors’ Bass and Temple for many years. Eunice will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother and expert pie maker who specialized in making special pies for every member of her family. She also loved games, particularly dominoes and 42. She also had a passion for reading non-fiction, often having the latest best-seller on her nightstand that she enjoyed discussing with her grandchildren. Most of all Mrs. McMills will be remembered as a woman of faith who shared Christ’s love with all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Bruce and his wife, Molli; her grandchildren, Aurora McMills, Corrie McMills, Molly McMills, Meg McMills and Alex Holdford, as well as great-grandchildren, Gabriela and Hector Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews. Henry preceded her in death in 1977; her son, Paul “Andy” McMills passed away in 1994. A celebration of the life of Eunice Butler McMills will be conducted by John Leftwich at Restland’s Abbey Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas, at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Visitation will be available prior to the Saturday service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
