Eurice Loring Bass' Obituary
Born January 29, 1907 in Moody, TX and passed away September 7, 2008 in Dallas, TX. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from North Texas State Teachers College (now UNT) in Denton, TX, and received her Masters Degree from University of Southern California. In 1929, Eurice began teaching in Dallas Independent School District, retiring after 30 years. She married Ernest I. Bass in 1951. She remained active in the Retired Teachers Association, holding various regional and national offices. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Dallas for more than 65 years, and was a lifetime member of Delta Psi Kappa. She served on the Board of Trustees at Dallas Baptist University for many years. She received the Ruth Award which honors women serving Dallas Baptist University in special ways. She created the Eurice M. Bass Foundation and with her husband funded many scholarships through the Baptist Foundation and United Methodist Higher Education. Hundreds of colleges and thousands of students have been the beneficiaries of these scholarships. Services will be held at 12:30pm, Friday, September 12, 2008, at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Dr. Gary Cook, President of Dallas Baptist University will officiate.
