My deepest sympathy to Lee and family. Karen Yeager
Eva was so many things to me but most of all she was an inspiration. She was an integral part of running our family office because of the qualities all of us cherished in her. Eva was completely honest, exceedingly kind and always poised. I really think what made her such a part of our life the most is that she loved her family so much. She agreed with our philosophy of family is first. When my father passed away unexpectedly, Eva's great mind for detail and organization helped me navigate the office system. Also, Eva was so highly regarded by our business partners it helped greatly with us maintaining the flow of the office. However, the greatest thing that Eva taught me was to be a caring and devoted mom. She was so proud of Diette , and would tell me about their big Christmas parties. She would tell me about sons, her grandchildren and great grand children with the same amount of energy. She just lived for all of them and would tell me all the sweet things you did for her like sending her tickets to see you. Eva, I will be inspired by you forever. You looked so beautiful tonight covered in roses. You always smelled like a garden rose and so many visitors noticed it as well. Love you! Eva Smith was the perfect first lady at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). She was the quiet, dignified force behind what we believe was the transformative president in the history of SWT, Lee H. Smith. Eva was always gracious and courteous to the faculty, staff, and students. She and Lee made a great couple, and Darlene and I will always remember the special role that they played in our lives.
