Evangeline "Van" Watkins Spillar's Obituary
Evangeline "Van" Watkins Spillar, age 87, passed away on August 8, 2022, in Carrollton, Texas. She was born to Thomas LeRoy and Elizabeth Moss Watkins on April 11, 1935, in Glenwood, Arkansas. Van attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Afterwards, she moved to Dallas and worked as a secretary at Vaught Aircraft, where she met the love of her life, Tommy Charles Spillar. They married on June 15, 1957, in Dallas, Texas. They were married for 58 years prior to his death. She was a founding member of the Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Irving, Texas. Van was an avid reader, loved politics and the Dallas Cowboys. She played the piano for pleasure, but most of all she loved traveling the world with Tommy during their retirement.
Van was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Moss Watkins; her husband, Tommy Charles Spillar; bother, Roy Douglas Watkins; brother, Maury Patilo Watkins; and niece, Gayle Watkins Barnard.
Van will be lovingly remembered by her nephews: Alan Watkins and wife Libbey; Mark Watkins and wife Beverly; and Jim Watkins. Also to cherish her memory will be niece Lisa Watkins Elkins and husband John. Van will also be fondly remembered by Ben Barnard, husband of niece Gayle.
Van will be placed in her final resting place on Monday, August 22, 2022 @ 10:00am in section, Holy Family. Located at Restland Memorial Park - 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243
