Evelyn Perry Caruthers' Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Caruthers, beloved mother of four sons and loving friend of many. Evelyn died quietly the morning of October 21, 2009, having reached the age of 96 in September. Evelyn was born in Penelope, TX on September 1, 1913, the daughter of Robert Ernest Perry and Zerilda Eubank Perry. She married Pat Claggett Caruthers in Waurika, OK, November 27, 1937. Evelyn was a retired elementary school teacher, a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas State Teacher’s Association, Retired Teacher’s Association of Johnson County, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Delta Kappa Gramma Honorary Sorority. She attended Texas Tech University and later earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Pan American College in Edinburg, TX. She moved to Richardson ten years ago from Cleburne. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Caruthers, her son Joe. L. Caruthers, her brother, Floyd S. Perry, and her sister, Robbie Beth Day. She is survived by three sons, Phillip A. Caruthers, Ralph P. Caruthers, and Michael O. Caruthers, three daughters in law, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of other memorials, Evelyn requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Richardson.
