Evelyn Covington's Obituary
After 65 years of marriage, Evelyn H. Covington died unexpectedly at home in Dallas on December 7, 2008. She was born in Dallas on St. Patrick’s Day in 1924, the one touch of Ireland in an ancestry that was firmly linked to the pioneering days in Texas. Her father’s career at Sears ensured many a hot Texas summer and cold Chicago winter while growing up in both cities. At high school in the suburbs of Chicago she met her future husband Lynn Covington. They married in Florida in 1943 when he was in Army Basic Training. After the end of WWII they were reunited, settling permanently in Dallas in the later half of the 1940’s. Evelyn always displayed remarkable energy and dedication to her family as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Lynn; her daughter, Gayle Seibel; her three sons, Robert, Richard and Randall; five grand children and five great grand children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 15, at 12:30 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetary.
