Evelyn Mae Gray's Obituary
Evelyn Mae Bundy Gray passed away peacefully on August 10, 2008, at her home in Plano, Texas. She was born August 20, 1917, in Milford, Iowa, to Lewis Allen and Alma Mason Bundy. Evelyn was the youngest in the family, with five brothers, six half-brothers, and one half-sister, who have all preceded her in death. As a child, she watched her home burn down, and the family moved to Nebraska where some of her older brothers had relocated. Her father died when she was eight years old. Evelyn married Fredrick T. Stalnaker in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1935, and they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where their children, Bette Marilyn and Raymond Lewis, were born. The family moved to Tooele, Utah, in 1947, and Evelyn retired from the Tooele Army Depot in 1968. After Fred’s death in Salt Lake City in 1979, Evelyn moved to Plano, Texas, to live near her daughter, Bette. There she met and married her second husband, Dolph Gray, who died in 1995. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Bette and her husband Vic Cawoski; son Raymond Stalnaker and his fianc’ Jaleh Tabatabaei; grandsons David Starcher and his wife Denise; James, Tayo, and Jerry Stalnaker; granddaughter Krystal and her husband Chris Neufeld; and great-grandsons Jared Starcher and Christian Neufeld. Evelyn will be remembered by those whose lives she touched for her kind and gentle spirit. Her friendliness and positive attitude endeared her to many, and her Christian faith was exemplified by her love for others. Services will be held at Restland Funeral Home Wildwood Chapel on Thursday, August 14, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Hospice, 10214 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75229.
