Evelyn Adella Hempkins' Obituary
Evelyn Adella Bury Hempkins was born on December 12, 1918 and passed away on February 24, 2012 at the age of 93. “To know her more is to like her the better” was the inscription in her high school yearbook and the fact remained true throughout her life. Evelyn was raised in Taunton, Massachusetts and graduated from Taunton High School. She served in the US Coast Guard during World War II and worked for the Internal Revenue Service Dept of Treasury for 35 years, retiring in 1973. In her retirement she enjoyed her lake house, her church, cooked for her family, and working in the yard. She was a member of White Rock United Methodist Church and the Mr. and Mrs. Class. Evelyn was happily married to James C. Hempkins for 52 years and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed and fondly remembered by both her family and friends. Evelyn is survived by son Mark Hempkins and wife Mary Hempkins, granddaughter Chelsea Watlington and husband Trae Watlington, and grandson Chase Hempkins and wife Chelsea Hempkins. Visitation will be from 4-6pm Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Monday, February 27, 2012 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park.
