Mrs. Evelyn Caldwell McGuire's Obituary
MCGUIRE, EVELYN CALDWELL was born in Dallas, TX on November 18, 1918 to Richard Benjamin Fox and Annie Lee Caldwell Fox. She lived her entire life, of nearly 95 years, in Dallas. Evelyn went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, William A “Bill” McGuire; her son, Daniel L. McGuire and her sister, Polly Anna Peterman. Eveyln graduated from Forest High School in Dallas. At the young age of 18, she married the love of her life, Bill McGuire (Daddy Bill to some) and they had six children. They were active members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas and later St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Richardson, where they moved in 1960 to be closer to Bill’s work at Texas Instruments. Evelyn loved to dance and taught at the Richardson Recreation and Senior Center for many years. For all the great work she did for her community in Richardson she was awarded “The Older Outstanding Texan of 1980”. She was the first to move into Eldorado Retirement Residence in Richardson in 1996, where she lived for mosr of her elder years. She started a song & dance group of 3 women and 3 men called “The Funsters”. Every month Evelyn would create a skit of songs, dances and one man told jokes. She truly loved people and entertaining for them. Evelyn is survived by her wonderful family including sons, William A. “Skip” McGuire Jr. of Dallas; Michael J. McGuire & wife, Rory of Newport Richey, FL; Timothy J. McGuire & wife, Letty of Dallas; daughters, Kathryn M. Donald & husband, Ronnie of Dallas; and Linda A. Billings of East Texas. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Evelyn lived the last year of life at a group home in north Dallas on Grayson Drive and had a wonderful family of caregivers who took very good care of our beloved mother. She will be greatly missed by all, but we know she and Daddy Bill are probably starting up a dance team in Heaven right about now! Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Richardson followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2013.
