Evelyn Lurline Robinson's Obituary
Evelyn Lurline Rains Robinson went home to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, September 22, 2009, with her family by her side. She was born April 15, 1931 Thomas A. and Mable L. Rains in Dallas, Texas. Lurline graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in Dallas and attended TSCW (now TWU) in Denton, Texas. She also attended Arlington State College, and the IBM Education Center in Dallas. Lurline married the love of her life, Weldon H. Robinson, on December 10, 1949. They have been married 59 years. She enjoyed the many phases of her son, Thomas W. Robinson’s life, including being a Den Mother for his Cub Scout group, active member of P.T.A. and a member of the Dallas A&M Mother’s Club. Lurline adored her three grandchildren and tried to attend all of the important events in their lives. She was Data Processing Manager for a manufacturing company and Data Control Supervisor for an insurance company. She also worked as a Technical Writer. For many years she was a homemaker, which was her favorite job. She enjoyed reading, doing art work and crafts. Her husband, son and daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the very joy of her life. Lurline was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas for over 40 years, where she taught Sunday School to both teenagers and adults. She had been a member of Community Bible Church in Irving since 1991. Lurline organized the first reunion of her Adamson Class of 1948 in 1981. She organized the 50th reunion in 1998 and continued to keep records on her classmates. Lurline is survived by her husband, Weldon; her son, Thom and his wife Arnette; grandson, Bryan S. Robinson; granddaughter, Ashley C. Odom; granddaughter, Jessica M. Vandergriff and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6:30- 8:30 PM, Friday, September 25, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Restland Memorial Park.
