Evelyn Juanita Whitten's Obituary
Evelyn Juanita Whitten, 96, lovingly known as Nanny, peacefully gained her angel wings on July 31, 2025, in Poolville, Texas.
Born on January 28, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, to Barney and Clara Brewer, she grew up with two brothers and two sisters. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, crocheting, ceramics, and arctic painting. She also loved selling Avon, playing solitaire, doing word searches, having coffee with friends, and most of all, going to church and spending time with her family.
She was a devoted mother to three children. Her legacy only grew with each generation as she became a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her nurturing spirit and warm heart earned her the endearing title of Nanny from all who knew her.
Evelyn worked at Texas Instruments as a warehouse supervisor, where she retired after 25 years. She then moved to Cedar Creek Lake with her husband, Elmo.
Evelyn’s impact on her family and all who knew her is immeasurable. Her life is a testament to compassion, strength, and the enduring power of love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Claire Brewer; devoted husband, Elmo Whitten; brothers, Wamon and Ruston Brewer; sister, Ruby Joyner; beloved son, Billy Shepherd; granddaughter, Sharon Watkins; grandson, Billy Shepherd Jr.; and great-grandson, Garrett Watkins.
Survived by her two daughters, Janie Fields and husband CW, and Fatima Said; sister, Helen Settle and husband Harold; granddaughters, Tammy Tyler and Stacy May and husband Heath; grandson, Clay McKinney and wife CaSandra; great-grandsons, Casey Goodnight and wife Brittany, Addison Tyler and wife Caitlin, Christian Tyler and wife Aliyah, Noah Tyler, Dylan May, and Logan May; great-granddaughters, Cailyn and Camdyn McKinney; and great-great-granddaughter, Morgan Goodnight.
