Everson "Evie" Grall's Obituary
EVERSON “EVIE” GRALL
On January 20, 2020, Everson “Evie” Grall bodily and mindfully entered into a peaceful rest.
Two Angels took his heart and soul into Heaven to be reunited with his beloved wife, Joann, youngest son, Billy and other family members and friends of his lifetime.
His deeds of Life are only known by God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son and their Holy Spirit. They need not be mentioned here as he was given a wonderful life through wife, family and many friendships.
Evie began his career working with his father, James in his upholstery business in Cleveland, Ohio. Eventually Evie moved his family to Dallas, Texas in 1962 where he started a career in sales with Lumberman’s Sash and Door. He continued in this career until he opened his own business under “Ev Grall Glass” from which he retired. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, grilling and was a huge Cowboy fan!
Evie is survived by his children, Kirk Grall and lifetime partner, Tim Kelly, Sharon Alexander and fiancée Ronny Vann, Charlene Grall, and daughter-in-law, Ann Todd-Grall. Grandchildren are Cheri Edmonds and husband Phillip, Dawn Horn and husband Michael, Michael Daley and wife Mandy. Great Grandchildren are Sam Santoscoy, Rachel Santoscoy, Madison Daley, Macy Daley, Mark Daley, Mary Jane Daley. He is also survived by his four beloved cats.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 8131 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Suite 440, Dallas, Texas 75251, 972-480-0011, in honor of Joann and Bill Grall or the SPCA of Texas, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, Texas 75212, 214-461-1800, in memory of Evie Grall.
MY BLESSED LIFE ON EARTH
I was born to immigrant parents of Hungarian blood, and as I was the last of five children, two brothers and two sisters. I was called “the baby of the family”.
I had a great life growing up, having a lot of fun in sports, many outside activities and immensely enjoyed “chasing girls”.
Then when I was a young 16-year-old, in March of 1947, a little hillbilly from Hickory, North Carolina, my soon to be sweetheart of life came, into my life when our eyes met on the second floor of John Marshall High School in Cleveland, Ohio. And as we Yankees always said, “That’s all she wrote”.
This faithful and wonderful Joann, gave me four children over eight years, being a son, we named Kirk and then a daughter we named Sharon. And, by the way, while we were still in high school, this was our prediction and naming of our first two children – later to be followed by another daughter, who we named Charlene and the last was another son we called Billy.
Another very ironic fact is that the two boys’ birthdates are ten days apart in May, and the two girls’ birthdates are just fourteen days apart in November.
Raising these four children was very little of a challenge because of their good qualities – like mother, Joann. Lots of pets – two horses, several dogs and cats, a housebroken rabbit and even a Smallmouth Bass fish from Lake Ray Hubbard named Theodore.
I had it all. So, I say to all, family and friends in my life, do not mourn for me, but be joyful as I have been, saying “Praise the Lord”. I have been greatly blessed.
As Joann used to say in high school and during our married life, when wanting to hold hands: “Give me paw”. And as I reached the Pearly Gates into Heaven, she was there, her hand extended toward mine, and with her beautiful smile, she spoke to me and said “Give me paw”.
All of you who hear this eulogy, join me in saying, “It’s been a wonderful life on earth, and now, an eternal life of joy and blessing with my Joann in the Paradise in Heaven, and with our Billy and many others who enhanced our earthly living – so please rejoice!
God’s Blessings to all – may your lives be filled with the joy we had.
Unpredictable,
Evie
