Dr. Ewing Burton Jones' Obituary
Jones, Ewing Burton, Dr. ~ passed to be with Christ on March 1, 2011 at Baylor Hospital of Dallas. Burton was born in Mesquite Texas on May 28th 1922, and two weeks later moved to Dallas along with his parents Ewing and Britta Jones. Burton lived his entire life in Dallas, except for the two years of active service in the Navy, going first to San Diego and then Saipan. He remained a part of the Naval Reserve for many years where he attained the rank of Lt. Commander. Burton graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, SMU, and Baylor Dental School which was followed by a career in dentistry that spanned 46 years. He had the pleasure of practing dentistry with his son, Mark, for 14 years. Burton was preceded in death by his first wife, Polly Jones and second wife, Freddie Jones. Burton is survived by his children Mark Jones and Linda Knox, four grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Burton loved golf and was a member of DAC. He loved his woodcraft hobbies as well as singing, and was a charter member of the Dallas Vocal Majority. He will be sincerely missed. Memorial services will be held at Eastridge Park Christian Church on Saturday, March 5th, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made to Eastridge Park Christian Church, 972-279-7201.
