Ex'Mae Naylor's Obituary
NAYLOR, Ex’mae Holden was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on January 13, 1917 and left this life on July 9, 2013. In addition to her parents, Myrtle and David Holden, she had one older sister, Gladys Sigman, and two younger brothers, Verl and Harold Holden. The family moved to Oklahoma City when she was four, and she became very active in musical circles at an early age as both a piano soloist and accompanist for voice and instruments. Prior to moving to Dallas in 1946 she lived in Los Angeles and Seattle. In January 1948 she met Robert (Bob) Naylor, who was loaned to her by a friend. She never gave him back. They were married 52 years, producing two sons, Douglas and Bruce, both Eagle Scouts. Having a love for technical terminology, she worked as an Office Manager and Executive Secretary in the engineering and medical fields. Her private interests were many, including needlework of all kinds (quilt making was her special love), gardening, with emphasis on a large collection of cacti and succulents, winning blue ribbons at garden shows. She had an insatiable thirst for learning and passed this on to her sons. Helping raise hunting dogs for her husband and kittens for her sons was an enjoyable part of her life. Being a lifelong Presbyterian, her spiritual life was central to her being. She served in various capacities in the work of the church, but in her later days when she was not as physically active, she was a devoted member of the Marylou’s Prayer Group at New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Dallas. In 2006 , after 60 years in Dallas, she moved to Austin, Tx., where most of her family lived. Ex’mae is survived by her sons, Douglas and wife Angela; Bruce F. Naylor; three grandchildren, Amanda Corbett and husband Robert; Aaron Naylor; Astria Boyer and husband Brett; three great-grandchildren, and their mother Hiromi Naylor. Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Restland Wildwood Chapel.
