Fairris Faye Wiggins Wood's Obituary
Fairris Faye Wiggins Wood passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Autumn Leaves Memory Care Center in Rockwall, TX. She was born on November 1st 1928 to the late Hyram Horace Wiggins and Ruby Faye Wiggins in McKenzie, Alabama. At the age of one her family moved to Kennett, Missouri where they had a cotton farm. She attended Deering High School in Deering, Missouri where she met her husband William Franklin Wood (Bill) whom she married in 1949. They relocated their family to Texas in the early sixties eventually landing in Garland. Fairris was the quintessential homemaker and enjoyed crafts and gardening. In later years she picked up the hobby of photography specializing in pictures of old country churches. As her memory faded she still took great delight in imaginary tea parties and reading sessions with her great-granddaughters. They will surely miss their “Granny”. Fairris joins her husband, Bill, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 77 and her grandson, Dave Wood, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 34. Fairris is also preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Letha and Grace; her brothers Leon, Elwin, Darwin, James, Horace, Dowell and Calvin. Surviving family includes her sons Lyle Wood and wife Bettye of Fredericksburg, Tim Wood and wife Barbara of Rowlett, Andy Wood of Garland; her daughter Jennifer Wood of Playa Del ReYt CA; granddaughter-in-Iaw lindsey Wood of lindale; her grandchildren Cliff Wood and wife Andrea of San Antonio, Heather Wood of Rowlett and Travis Wood and wife Maggie of Rockwall; her great-daughters Kylie Wood, Kinzey Wood, Austin Wood and Rose Wood. Graveside service will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:30am at the Garden of Trinity in Restland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road.
