Mrs. Farzaneh Zarghami - Rohani's Obituary
Mrs. Farzaneh Zarghami-Rohani was born on August 8, 1943, in Kashan, Iran, to a Bahá’í family and passed away on February 15, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. She married Mr. Rouhollah Rohani at the age of 19 and moved to Tehran. Due to the nature of her husband’s career, the couple moved several times to different cities such as Isfahan and Ahvaz. They eventually settled in Isfahan, where they lived most of their lives. They have three children, Neda, Omid, and Ramona. Farzaneh was a devoted Bahá’í who spent most of her life in service of her faith and community.
The Revolution of 1979 in Iran brought many changes and hardships for this family, as it did for many Iranians. Due to the persecution of Bahá’ís in Iran and the threats they received, the couple was forced to leave their home and flee to Tehran for several years. Farzaneh endured many hardships during this time, such as the executions of many friends and the arrest and imprisonment of her beloved husband. She also endured a lengthy separation from her children who had fled and migrated to the United States.
She was eventually reunited with her two oldest children after 14 years in 1996. Since 2003, the couple lived partially in Iran and Dallas.
In 2018, Farzaneh was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Parkinson’s. Although the disease limited her movements and took over her body, her spirit remained strong and unwavering.
She lost her beloved husband in August 2023, two days after celebrating her 80th birthday. She is survived by her children and their spouses:
- Neda and Shahab Yazdani
- Omid and Sahba Rohani
- Ramona and Cyrus Peikari
-Her grandchildren Ava Yazdani, Rex Peikari, and Ivy Peikari.
-Her grand fur babies Luna, Casper, and Mimi.
-Her sister Mehran Abbey and her family.
-Her sister of the heart Mrs. Soraya Haghighi and her children Neda and Navid Haghighi.
-Her brother Ehsan Zarghami and his family.
-Her nieces and nephew and their families from her deceased sister, Rezvan.
Her funeral will be on February 26 at 2 pm at Restland Funeral Home.
