Faye Attaway's Obituary
Faye Dyer Attaway passed away peacefully in Athens, Texas on January 29th, 2016. Born on June 5, 1920 in Sherman, Texas along with her twin brother Ray, to Rollie and Effie Dyer. Faye lived a life characterized by exemplary service, dedication to family and extraordinary faith. She departed this life exactly as she wanted, with quiet grace and dignity. Faye grew up in Littlefield, Texas in a family of 9 children including two sets of twins, of which she was one. It was there she met the love of her life, Gene Attaway. After their marriage in 1937, the war took them to California briefly, and then back to Texas where she began her career in Dallas as a hairdresser. Always a fashionable lady, Faye also enjoyed gardening, entertaining her family, and had a remarkable talent for making everything around her more beautiful. In 1967 they returned to the country life in Athens where they eventually retired. Faye is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Gene Attaway. Survivors include daughter Dolores Anderson and husband Andy, Grandchildren Kie and Cheri Anderson, Kurt Anderson, Russell and Mandy Anderson. Great grandchildren Megan and Seth Murphy, Jensen, Morgan, John David, and Peyton Anderson, Shaun and Christie Hanks, Jamie and Christian Hanks, Garen and Harrison Holt and Kylie Garner. Great great grandchildren Peyton, Bella, Atley and Marlee Joe Brother Wesley Dyer and sister Rosemary Couch. The family owes a great debt of gratitude to the kind and loving staff of Oakwood for their service of the past twelve years and to the Hospice group who cared for her at the end of her life. Service will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Eastern Hills Church of Christ in Athens with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Poynor Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
