Faye Louise Sloan's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Faye Louise Sloan, age 92, who peacefully departed this life on May 2, 2025. Born during the challenging days of the Great Depression on April 14, 1933, Faye's life embodied the resilience, faith, hard work and strength that defined her generation. Faye was a force!
Born to Maggie and Braxton Blankenship, Faye entered a world where a gallon of milk cost around 43 cents, a gallon of gasoline was approximately 10 cents, and the average annual income was about $1,500. The average home price during this era was around $3,600. It was in this environment that Faye developed the strong work ethic and resourcefulness that would guide her throughout her life.
Faye's greatest joy in life was her beloved husband, Morris Eugene "Pops" Sloan. If you ever been around Mama Faye, you know their love story began in Sherman Texas, when they courageously left town in a jalopy with just $40 to their name and built a life that would impact generations to come. Together, they created a legacy of love, faith, and perseverance that continues to inspire their family today. Their remarkable journey from humble beginnings to a life of abundance stands as a testament to their determination and unwavering belief in each other.
Faye found peace and purpose in the simple joys of life – tending to her garden with loving care and watching over her cattle!
Throughout her life, Faye maintained an unshakable faith, finding comfort in her belief that she would one day be reunited with her beloved "Pops" in heaven. This faith sustained her through life's challenges and gave her the strength to face each day with hope.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Eugene Sloan; her parents, Maggie and Braxton Blankenship; her sisters, Vera Hileman, Ruby Blackburn, Bernice Vineyard, Ruth Williams, Jo Banks and Alice; and her brothers, Charlie Blankenship, Raymond Blankenship, and Robert Blankenship and Buddy Blankenship.
She is survived by her eldest son, Morris Dale Sloan and his wife Jana Sloan. Her youngest son Wayne Eugene Sloan. Five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
Faye's life was characterized by resilience, hard work, and faith – values that she instilled in her children and grandchildren. Her influence will continue to be felt for generations to come, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
In her final years, Faye was blessed with the devoted care of an angel on earth, Linda, whose compassion and kindness brought immeasurable comfort. Grizelda, Linda’s daughter, also moved to be near Faye and remained faithfully by her side until her final breath. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to these remarkable women, along with the Complete Home Hospice team, whose love and dedication are appreciated more than they will ever know.
May she rest in peace, reunited at last with her beloved "Pops."
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave Dallas Texas 75243, followed by the graveside service at Restland Cemetery.
