Faytine Eakin Allen's Obituary
ALLEN, FAYTINE EAKIN, 98m born June 23, 1916 in Chilton, Texas. Passed away July 13, 2014 in Dallas. Faytine was a genuinely sweet, kind, lovable and devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandma, great grandma and friend who was an active member of First Baptist Church, Dallas for over 60 years. She graduated from Sam Houston State University and became a lifelong educator, teaching second grade for 29 years in Arlington, Texas where she was named Teacher of the Year in 1980. As a dedicated teacher, Faytine’s sharing of knowledge and experience did not stop in the classroom but was her gift to all who knew her. She was always loving, always patient, always thinking of others. She never had an unkind word toward anyone and had a great sense of humor. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Since 1976, she was an active member of Cooper Aerobics Center and believed that exercise greatly improved her quality of life. In 1991, she won 4th place in the National Senior Olympics in Syracuse, New York; she earned many other medals and awards from other competitions, including the Susan G. Komen race, several Texas State competitions, and the US National Senior Sports Classic IV in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She and her husband, Truett received the award of Mr. and Mrs. Aerobics in 1995 when Cooper Fitness Center celebrated its 25th Anniversary. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Truett. Faytine is survived by son Jim Allen and wife, Joyce of Dallas, daughter Jeanne Allen Dunlap and Dave Markel of Addison; daughter, Elizabeth Allen Sanger and husband Roddy of Waco, six grandchildren Stephanie Allen, Candice Allen Haun and husband Fred, Cas Dunlap, Chad Dunlap and wife Becky, Jennifer Sanger Miller and husband Shawn, Philip Sanger and fiance Lauren Bremer, great granddaughters, Allison Elizabeth Miller and Zoey Olivia Dunlap. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Walnut Place who added so much comfort and joy to her life during the past few years. Private graveside services will be held prior to a memorial service at Restland Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:30AM, John Cullen officiating. There will be a reception at Walnut Place, 5515 Glen Lakes Drive, Dallas, TX 75231.
