I've come to know Ferd over the last 7 years and he was always a joy to be around. I will miss his smile, humor, sensibility, and know-how. My heartfelt condolences to Ida and the family. A truly genuine character has been lost, but yet remains strong in our memories.

I have many memories of Uncle Ferd and can especially picture him laughing. One of my favorite memories is learning to water ski at Hideaway Lake. He often drove the boat. To this day I can hear him saying, now Rebecca when we go through the island stay behind the boat and don't be show boating by going over the wake.When Uncle Ferd said to do something you did it! He will be missed by many and his love for life will live on in our memories.
Although he was not my actual uncle, but rather an uncle in law, in law, I remember him very fondly. He was smart, and funny, and kind–the kind of person you would choose to have as an uncle if you could… I remember he and my father cutting up and entertaining all of us at gatherings at his in-law's house over holidays.
We lived next door (on both sides) to Ferd and Ida for several years and loved them both. We extend our condolences to Ida and the family and though we have not seen them in several years, we miss him as if it was yesterday. Pat and Nancy Rogers

We will never forget Uncle Ferd's fun-loving spirit! He had such a flair for telling a good joke! He was one of the most generous men I ever knew – not just with his money but also with his time. He always had time to listen to our stories, give good advice, and end with an upbeat comment. He had such a positive outlook that was reflected in how he lived his life. He took such pride in his children and grandchildren, who are all so accomplished. He has traveled the world and, not only documented, but has been an actual part of many historical events.
