Fernando V. Salazar's Obituary
Fernando Virginio Salazar passed away peacefully at home in Dallas, TX, on June 29, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on January 18, 1937, in Kaufman, TX, Fernando lived a life rich in history and love, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Fernando was born to John Salazar and Agapita Melchor Salazar, who instilled in him values of hard work, dedication, and family. He was a loving brother and a devoted son, particularly to his mother, whom he showered with all his attention and love. His deep family bonds were evident throughout his life.
Fernando graduated from high school in Seagoville, TX, in 1956, marking the beginning of a journey filled with meaningful accomplishments and relationships. He embarked on a long and successful career with Sysco Corporation, where he worked diligently for 30 years before retiring in 2002.
A historian at heart, Fernando had a profound knowledge of history, especially regarding his heritage. He embraced his roots with pride and shared his vast knowledge with those around him. His passion for history was one of the many facets that made him an extraordinary individual.
Fernando was preceded in death by his brothers Julius, John, Valentin, and Ines Salazar, and sisters Juanita Falcon and Porfiria De La Rosa.
He is survived by his 3 sisters, Isabel Vega, Linda Salazar, and Margie Velo; his 2 brothers, Alexander and Victor Salazar; his brothers-in-law, Cecil Vega and Gallo Velo; and many nephews and nieces who will continue to honor his memory and legacy.
Fernando's visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243, on July 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will commence at 2 PM the same day at Chapel Garden Mausoleum.
