Finees Moreno's Obituary
Finees Moreno, 94, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 14, 1925 to Fred and Margarita Moreno in Pearsall, Texas.
After graduation from Pearsall HS in 1943, he served in the US Navy during WWII from 1943-1946 and then attended SMU School of Business where he received a Business Administration degree in 1950. He spent his career working for the City of Dallas in the Controllers’ Office until he retired in 1983. He returned to work in 1984, as a docent at the Dallas Museum of Art.
Finees was a loving and generous father, a true and faithful servant of God. He was a quiet, humble, charitable, compassionate member of Agape Memorial United Methodist Church, where he met his wife, Myriam, when the congregation was known as Latin American UMC. He was a youth leader at Latin American UMC and spent many decades as a Sunday School teacher to the Spanish speaking adult class, when the congregation was known as Mary King UMC and later as Agape Memorial UMC. He served as church finance chairman and treasurer for many years and served as the treasurer of the Rio Grande Conference of the United Methodist Church for 15 years. He also was a member of Gideons International.
Finees is survived by his wife, Myriam, of 64 years, his daughters, Raquel, Esther and Elaine; sisters, Eliza, Juanita, Raquel, and Margarita; brother, Abel; sisters-in-law, Minerva and Maria Teresa; brothers-in-law, Jimmie and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his son, René Finees; sisters, Sarita, Mary, Ester, Irene, Ruth, Odessa and Jesusa; brothers, Oliverio, Abelardo, Ruben, Eleazar and Fred Jr.
Finees will be sincerely missed by his loving family, church family and friends.
The family has asked that donations be made to Agape Memorial United Methodist Church or Gideons International in his memory.
