Florence Josephine Evans' Obituary
EVANS, FLORENCE JOSEPHINE HUGHES passed away peacefully on May 11, 2014 in Plano, Texas at the age of 93. The youngest of three sisters, she was born in 1920 in Dallas, Texas to Gilbert S. Hughes and Kathryn Kelly Hughes and spent most of her life living in Dallas until she moved to Plano in the 1980s to live with her daughter. A long-time Texas Rangers fan, her close friends and family always knew that she would be unavailable to them from opening day in April of each year through the end of the baseball season in October so that she could watch each and every Rangers game on television from the comfort of her easy chair. As a result, her friends and family learned to work around the Rangers schedule. She also enjoyed numerous trips with her daughter to Australia, Ireland and various points around Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph S. Evans, her eldest sister, Margaret Renney, and Margie’s husband, Laurance Renney. She is survived by her son, Joe Evans, Jr., her daugher, Sherry Evans, her beloved grandson, Todd Awbrey, and his wife, Kelly, her sister, Mary Edwards, and by several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who loved her. A visitation for friends and family will be held from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to any charity or charities you have chosen.
