Florence (Flo) Etta Eckeberger's Obituary
Flo liked nothing better than making people laugh and did her best to see the brighter side of things; even after back problems and pain management became an issue. She lost her beloved husband, Dale in December and became lonely and wanted to be with him. They were both members of the Malakoff Church of Christ. She was an avid bridge player and in younger days enjoyed playing golf. She was blessed beyond measure to be able to travel extensively and would take her golf clubs on some of the trips where she played some challenging courses in many beautiful places due to Dale's involvement in Expo Trade Shows in the electronics industry, as well as being able to travel to some fun places to compete in bridge tournaments.
Flo held an associate's degree from Richland College in Dallas and studied at the University of Texas in Dallas. Flo was a Bridge Bronze Life Master; and she won numerous awards in piano competition while in high school, where she also excelled in basketball competition. Flo had numerous articles and poetry published in Image, Wineskins and other magazines. She was a volunteer at UT Hospital in Athens Texas from 2010 until 2019.
Flo was born in Wichita, KS on December 20, 1935, the youngest daughter of Guy William and Gretchen Horchem Ingraham. There were twins five years older, a son Ross, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Ruth, who passed away in 2019.
Flo's husband had predeceased her in 2023. She is survived by one son, William K. Mimms of Murchison, TX, a daughter, Ginger Kay Mathews and husband John of Atlanta, GA, a stepdaughter, Pamela Dennis of Forney, TX; and stepson Brian and wife Melinda Eckeberger of Plano, TX. She also had another stepson, Michael Eckeberger who predeceased her. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as "Momo".
Funeral arrangements for Florence Etta Eckeberger have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery.
