REED, FLORENE W. Born Aug. 29, 1924 in Dallas, TX, Florene entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 5, 2011. Preceded in death by her husband, John P. Reed (Jack), her parents, Florene and James K. Wilson, brothers James K. Wilson, Jr. and Bill Wilson. Survived by sons John, Jr. (Joy), David (Janet), and daughter Beverly York (John); grandchildren Rachel (Bob), Juliet, J.P.; Meredith, Caroline Mitchell (Brian), David Jr.; Amy, Karlie, Molly, and Katie York; Brother Jack Wilson (Nance); sister-in-laws Elizabeth Wilson, Joann Traeger Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Florene and Jack were married 62 years.Florene graduated from Hockaday School in 1941, attended SMU and graduated from the University of Texas. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, The Junior League of Dallas, Dallas Woman’s Club, Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, Lyceum Club and Avalon Sewing Club.Florene had a love for reading and learning. She taught two years at Lakehill Prep School when it was established, and several years at the DISD Metro School, did substitute teaching at St. Marks, and tutored at Hockaday School. She was a wise, loving mother. A devoted grandmother, she attended countless events of her grandchildren and enjoyed reading the C. S. Lewis Chronicles to them. She was a long time member of Park Cities Baptist Church and the George Isom Sunday School Class. She also taught Eighth Grade Sunday School and participated in the “In-Home” and 50 Plus Ministries.
