Florine W. Riddle's Obituary
Riddle, Florine Walker ~ 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, March 2, 2011. She was born December 5, 1916 in Cason, Texas to John Wesley Walker and Lula Belle Weaver Walker. She married Clifton “Cub” Riddle June 18, 1939. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2001. Also preceding her in death are sisters, Ople Tuttle and Maurine Betts, and brothers, Johnny Walker, Leon Walker and Russell Walker. Florine was a wise woman and had a sharp and witty sense of humor. She often taught her family that material things are replaceable but special relationships are not-they must be treasured. She loved her family and her God more than anything in the world. She was a member of East Grand Baptist Church until moving to Garland in 1976 when she joined Orchard Hills Baptist Church. She was active in her Sunday School Class and various church activities; she always made it a point to tithe. She owned and operated Riddle Day Nursery and Kindergarten from 1952 – 1982 in Dallas, Texas. She loved and cared beautifully for the children for 30 years and remained in contact with many of her pupils until her death. Florine loved to sing – singing “Oh HAPPY Day” until the day she died. She was also an avid Texas Ranger Baseball fan who could rattle off the starting line-up at any time. Florine, also lovingly known by many as ‘Flo’, and her husband of 62 years “Cub”, always welcomed visitors into their home and had more than a dozen family members live with them at different times of their life. Florine is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Sue Riddle Baker and husband Ron of Lubbock; son, Stephen George Riddle and wife Kathy of Rowlett; grandchildren, Jeff Baker and wife Crystal, Jeremy Baker and wife Paula, Hayden Riddle, Jill Baker, John David Riddle and wife Brandi, Jana Baker, Zachary Riddle and Stephanie Riddle. Florine’s great – grandchildren include Berklie Baker, Kylie Riddle, Alexandra Baker, Barrett Baker, William Baker, Brayden Riddle and Brody Baker. She will also be missed by her special caregiver Martha Wright. Services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011, 10 am at Restland Abbey Chapel, with internment to follow at Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Thursday, March 10 at Restland, 9220 Restland Road , Dallas, Texas.
