Mr. Floyd Eugene Taylor's Obituary
Died on August 21, 2007, following a lengthy illness. Born February 3, 1927, to W.M. & Lillie Taylor in Shelby County, TX. He was a long time member & elder in Churchill Way Presbyterian Church, which is now Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church. He served his country during W.WII, as a Hospital Corpsman in the US. Navy’Fleet Marine group. He graduated from the University of Texas, Austin, with a B.S. degree & while there was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. His career was with Sun Oil Company as the Director of Employment/Recruiting Dept. He belonged to many professional organizations. During his career, he also officiated in football and basketball with the Southwest Football Officials Assoc. for 32 years in various locations. He was an active volunteer at the Hall of State for the Dallas Historical Society, a member of the Natural History Museum, the Science Place, Dallas Museum of Art, the Petroleum Institute, A.P.I. He is survived by his loving wife, LaLita Akers Taylor, called La or LaLa, 2 sons, Kent Taylor of Sherman and Mike Taylor and wife, Lisa, of Sherman, one brother, Hugh Taylor & wife, Pat, of Longview, TX, one sister-in-law, Dot Taylor of White Oak, TX. Grandchildren are Andrew Taylor, Erin and Robert Taylor and many cousins, nieces, & nephews. The grandchildren fondly called him Grand Tad. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Shirley Akers Fisher of Carrollton & Patsy Akers McDonald of Dallas. Predeceased by grandson, Winston Taylor of Dallas, & brother, B.L. Taylor of White Oak.
