Mr. Forrest Lane Jones' Obituary
Forrest Lane Jones, age 96, passed away on September 11, 2023 in McKinney, Texas.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 08, 1927 to James F. Jones and Alice A. Lane Jones.
Forrest grew up in St. Louis, Missouri.
Forrest attended Southern Methodist University earning a Bachelor’s of Business Administration.
After graduating he served in the Texas Air National Guard in the 181st Fighter Bomber Squadron, where he attained the rank of Staff Seargent, he was honorably discharged on June 21, 1953.
He married Barbara Lynne Jones and together they had 2 children, they lived in Richardson until her passing.
Forrest had a long and successful career in the Office Supply industry, he worked for Carter Ink Company, which later became Avery Denison, until his retirement.
In 1985 Forrest married Sally Helsley Jones, they enjoyed 38 years together until his passing. Forrest and Sally lived in Richardson, Texas until 2020 at which time they moved to McKinney, Texas to be closer to family.
Forrest and Sally where longtime members of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas, Texas, the church was very important to both of them, they met in the church, they both raised their families in the church and they enjoyed many longtime friendships that began in the church.
Forrest enjoyed traveling with Sally, spending time with his children and grandchildren and the company of his many friends, he also always followed and cheered on the SMU Mustangs.
He is survived by his wife Sally Scott Jones, McKinney, Texas, son Arthur Lane Jones (Kathy), daughter Susan (Susie) Jones Kreher (Rick), sons Thad Helsley (Dorie), Alan Helsley (Jackie), daughter Julie Cardwell (Jim), Sister Marilyn Jessup and several Nieces and Nephews.
Grandchildren: Sydney, Britney, Kaitlyn, Rhianna, Richie, Mika, Jeremy, Trey, Ashley, Alex, Daniel and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for Forrest at 11:00 am, Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75254.
