Uncle Forrest was my Dad's best friend. They met in Dallas in the 50's as bachelor physicians. Through marriage, children, relocations, and other changes, Uncle Forrest & Dad stayed close. I always enjoyed Uncle Forrest as shown in the photo, he was so gregarious and had a zest for the people he loved. I also enjoyed the fact that he never spoke to me like a little kid. His questions & comments were never over my head but they really made me think. Uncle Forrest was also an animal lover and most of the time he had an affectionate canine companion. Uncle Forrest was a fan of The University of Texas and my Dad was a fan of The University of Oklahoma. They attended many Texas-OU football games at the Cotton Bowl. They two had an annual bet on the game with a $5.00 payoff. About a month before Dad died, he was agitated & asking me about the game, he wanted to know the score. I told him that OU won and "Lumpy" was on his way over. His agitation subsided and he smiled. To Forrest, Kathy, Libby & all, thank you for sharing your father with my family. Uncle Forrest will always be, to me, the gold standard of a human being.
