Frances Carter's Obituary
CARTER, FRANCES OXFORD 92, Former resident of Tyler, TX, Born December 21, 1914, in Warren, Arkansas. She left us to be with her maker on April 7, 2007. She was a middle child of John P. and Lillie Gaines. She graduated from Lufkin High School, Lufkin, Texas, and moved to Beaumont where she spent many years before moving to Athens, Texas. She was married to George Carter, owner of George Carter Construction Company of Tyler, Texas and they spent many happy years together. They were members of Pollard United Methodist Church in Tyler, where she was very active in United Methodist Women. She is a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson. She loved to sew and at one time made all her own clothes and also did all types of hand work, as well as ceramic. Her death was preceded by her husband, George T. Carter; brother, John F. Gaines; sister, Loovonia Gaines Hayles; grandson, Mark Lynn Chaney; and granddaughter, Sherry Kaye Chaney. She is survived by one daughter, Annette Chaney Stone; son-in-law, Thomas S. Stone; and grandson, Shane Michael Stone. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday, April 9, 2007 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at First United Methodist Church Richardson. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First united Methodist Church in Richardson, The Opening Doors.
