Frances Lynn Chapman's Obituary
Frances Williamson Chapman, 86, of Garland, TX. died February 1st, 2021 at her residence of 60 years. She was born December 14th 1934, to Clinton “Speedy” and Dora Mae Williamson in Abilene, TX. She married Darrell Chapman on May 28th 1955 in Abilene, TX. She was a purchasing clerk at Kraft Foods, retiring in 1994 after 25 years of service. She was a member of Monica Park Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where she served as Elder and Sunday School Teacher for the Ray Cooper class.
She is survived by Darrell, husband of 65 years, daughter Sherrie White and husband Fred of Johnson City, Tennessee, son Phillip Chapman of Garland, Texas. One niece, Wendi Williamson White of Johnson City, Tennessee. Cousins Peggy Jefferies Jackson and husband Bill of Sandia Park, New Mexico, David Jefferies of Abilene, Texas, Winston Williamson of Abilene, Texas. Special friends Julie Miller Guardiola, her husband and son David and Ryan.
She is preceded in death by parents “Speedy” and Dora Mae Williamson, Aunt Frances “Sissy” Jefferies and her brother Gerald Williamson.
Frances enjoyed a full life with family and friends. A graduate of Abilene High School, she continued to follow the Eagles football team as her brother won state championship. She was “Team Mother” for her son's little league baseball team in Garland and went on to be the first female coach for Garland Girls Softball Association, co- coaching her daughter’s team to a championship season. She loved to attend Texas Rangers baseball games and cheer on the Dallas Cowboys. Bowling for many years her team ”Goof Balls” celebrated 2 championships with Kraft Bowling League. Frances became interested in clay target shooting and seasonal bird hunting. She was known in her circle as a “crack shot” for the next 25 years. Her hobbies included playing 42 with dominoes, travel throughout the US and beyond, but her favorite trips were spring jaunts to photograph bluebonnets, wildflowers and stopping at antique shops to add to her glassware collection. Her cheerful personality, love of adventure and devotion to family are surely missed.
