Frances Dare's Obituary
DARE, HELEN “FRANCES” SMALLWOOD was born in Weston, Texas in Collin County May 7, 1922. She went to her heavenly home on Friday, January 7, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey William Dare; her parents, John Preston Smallwood and Edith Brown Smallwood; two daughters, Linda Ann Havens and Sherry Elise Blackwell; her only brother, Alvin Preston Smallwood; and sister, Omega Sue Deer. Frances is survived by one loving grandson, Perry Havens; two precious great grandchildren, Lauren Ann Havens and Tanner Perry Havens; two sisters, Addie Stevens and Nancy Siebert; 4 nephews, 6 nieces and their families, and a host of loving cousins and friends. She was a member of the Casa Linda United Methodist Church for over 56 years before moving to Crandall in 2004. She sang gospel music all her life. She was manager of a gospel quartet “The Joyfulaires”, traveling over several states. She sang solos in her church as well as the choir, and was president of the Collin County Singing Convention for several years. She worked in the medical field for many years until she retired. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Restland Abbey Chapel.
