Frances F. George, age 98.5 of Sunnyvale, Texas passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Stonefield Assisted Living, McKinney, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born on June 24, 1926, in (Crossroads) Aubrey, Texas to Gertrude F. Harbert Wardlaw and Newt R. Wardlaw. She was happily married to her only love, Henry C. George, for 64 yrs. They were members of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas. She attended First Baptist Church, Forney, Texas and Van Alstyne Church of Christ, Van Alstyne, Texas while living with her children. She was Baptized at Lake Dallas as a teenager and all her life had a close relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was ready to meet him on December 16, 2024.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (George) Dulock and husband Kenny of Van Alstyne, Texas; Son, Stanley George and wife Pamela of Sunset, Texas; grandchildren, Sarah Feehan and husband Benje, Jeff George and wife Kirbylane, Terry George and wife Holly, Sean Dulock, Michelle Dulock and husband Alex Worley; along with three great-grandchildren, Levi Feehan, Haley George and Hagan George; and sister in law, Bernice “Bea” Wardlaw of Denton, Texas.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry George; sisters, Fern Geraldine “Gerry” Ott, Wanda Joy Fore, Bulah “Bea” Wynell Hornbeck and Betty Sue Steele; brothers, Newt “Bob” Wardlaw, Ross A. Wardlaw and Onus “Onie” H. Wardlaw.
During WWII she was a “Rosie the Riveter” constructing airplane wings, worked at The Dallas Cotton Exchange for 8 yrs., Kraft Foods in Garland for 25 yrs., assisted Henry in their Cut-Heal horse medication operations, COO & CFO of Henry George Quarter Horses and assisted as a ranch hand in feeding, breeding, grooming and was an expert horse show analyst. Her most notable gift was being a loving Grandmother and Great Grandmother who knew how to spoil and rock the cranky ones to sleep. The Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren are grateful to have had her attend their events and big moments in their lives, cheering them on. Frances and Henry loved traveling with her siblings and spouses. She was a former member of the Sunnyvale ISD PTA and Sunnyvale Garden Club and could grow anything, but mostly okra and tomatoes in the hard gumbo soil in Sunnyvale. Nothing gave her more joy that picking up pecans from her own tree or neighbor’s trees, but beware if you were a squirrel or skunk, she was an expert trapper! She would make numerous Pecan Pies which she gave to family and friends and made extra for the “magic freezer”. Yard work was also her passion and was still using the riding lawnmower at age 95. Her family had to mind the clock as she didn’t like being late... to her, being somewhere 30 minutes early was “on-time”. She was a Dallas Cowboy’s fan and got to hear them win last Sunday afternoon before she passed.
Our family would like to especially thank the Staff of Stonefield Assisted Living, McKinney, TX and VNA Hospice Care Collin County, TX for providing their loving care to mother and support for our family. For over a decade, Frances was a loving caregiver for her husband and two sisters in memory care, as they all suffered from Alzheimer’s.
