Frances Lorene Huffman's Obituary
HUFFMAN, FRANCES LORENE MEEKS born August 8, 1927 to John and Addie Meeks in Clinton, MS. Lorene was a remarkable woman. At the age of eight, Lorene had one lung surgically removed and her doctors predicted that she would probably not live beyond early adulthood. She proved them all wrong. She married Lyman R. Huffman, Jr. in 1944 and enjoyed a wonderful life with him for sixty-seven years. Besides being a loving and faithful wife, Lorene was a wonderful mother. She was also a student of God’s Word and believer in Jesus Christ. Her family rejoices today because she is in heaven, having passed on from this world on December 11, 2011. Lorene attended Denison High School and Drawns Business College. While Lyman was away in the service, Lorene lived with her parents. She worked for The Interstate Theaters and Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Denison before leaving and joining her husband in Tampa, FL who was awaiting reassignment after returning from Europe. Following the war, Lorene went to Dallas with Lyman where they established a home. They moved to Garland in 1949, where she later gave birth to a son and became a full-time homemaker. Lorene is survived by her husband, Lyman R. Huffman, Jr; her son, Randy Huffman and wife, Laurraine; grandchildren: Jonas Matthew Huffman and wife, Brianna and Ashley Huffman Shooner and husband, Glenn; granddaughters: Avery, Lyla and Stella Shooner. Lorene was greatly loved and will be missed. Her family knows, however, that they will be separated for only a season. Praise God we will all see one another again! Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park.
