Frances Ella Matera's Obituary
Frances Ella Matera died March 27, 2019, after a long battle with blood cancer. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Robert (Bert) and Rose Fasciano on March 3, 1932, and was the 2nd of five daughters (Jaqueline, Patricia, Joan, and Roberta). Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 50 years John Matera. She is survived by loving daughters Patricia Knodel (husband Mark Knodel) and Karen Matera, precious grandchildren Austin Duval and Alexandra Ruiz (husband Lee Ruiz), and great-grandchild Estella Ruiz.Frances was a volunteer at Richardson Medical Center, Contact Connection, The Grant Haliburton Foundation and also loved reading with the children at Prestonwood Elementary and All Saints Catholic School. She was an active member of Northwood Women’s Club and various social groups. An important part of her life was working with The Martha Foster Group at the Dallas Apparel Market.She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, golfing, playing bridge, watching the Dallas Cowboys and entertaining. Her friendships were long lasting and very dear to her. She maintained a positive outlook on life and always tried to brighten the day of others.Services will be held Friday, May 17 at 2 pm at All Saints Catholic Church, 5231 Meadowcreek Drive in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
