Frances Moyer Morris' Obituary
Frances Moyer Morris, born in New Orleans, LA, on December 7, 1926, to Franklin and Evelyn Moyer, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2016. Frances, fondly known as “Chum” to her family and friends, graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School and attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, where she met and married her husband of 63 years, C.M. Morris, in 1951. They moved to Dallas shortly after, where they raised their three children. Chum was a gifted quilter and was active for many years in several local quilting guilds. She was also a Cub Scout and Campfire Girls troop leader for her sons and daughter. Chum will be most remembered for her gourmet cooking and the joy and love she shared with family and friends through her delicious meals and warm hospitality. A parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church since 1953, Chum’s strong faith and generous charity set a strong example for all she knew. Frances was preceded in death almost exactly one year ago by her loving husband, C.M. She joins in Heaven her parents and sister Bettie Ann Wilson. Chum is survived by her daughter Martha and husband Jerry Huffman, son Tim Morris, son Chris and wife Kathryn Morris, granddaughters Madeleine Huffman Harrison, Alexandra Huffman, Maya Morris and Marley Morris, and great-grandchildren Keegan and Audrey Harrison. Her family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff and friends at Sonoma House Assisted Living in Carrollton for the love and care they have shown in the past year to our entire family, especially for your compassion during the final days of both Chum and C.M. Visitation and rosary will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Restland Memorial Chapel. The service will be Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 3pm at Restland Abbey Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, Frances requested that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and to Children’s Medical Center Dallas, where her great-grandson receives his ongoing care.
