Frances Lorraine Patterson's Obituary
PATTERSON, FRANCES LORRAINE was born December 17, 1920 in EL Paso, Texas to parents Robert Thurston and Eula Bertha Hillin Gentry. She met her Lord on February 20th, 2014 at the age of 93. She leaves her loving husband, James S. Patterson, after 72 wonderful years of marriage. She also leaves sons James Thurston Patterson and wife Sandy Ray Patterson, Mickey Roy Patterson and wife Wanda Patterson, three grandchildren Paige Greene and husband Cary Greene, Corri Ehmer and husband Dr. Dale Ehmer, Casey C. Patterson and wife Jenny. She leaves 4 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. Her achievements: she was an A student, a Major in the girls ROTC program, a member of the school Pep Squad, graduated from Austin High School in 1938, attended Abilene Christian College 1939 – 1941, and married James Patterson January 3, 1942. She worked as Civil Service employee during WWII. While raising two boys, she taught primary class at Church, she was President of the PTA, office manager for a Doctor and Houston Christian School. Years later, she taught hundreds of students in the World Bible School outreach program. When the boys became teenagers, she worked full time as Secretary to the President of Monahans State Bank and later, the Midland National Bank. In Gainesville, she worked as Assistant to independent Geologist and in Dallas she worked as Secretary to the President of North Park National Bank, North Dallas Bank and retired in 1982 as Vice President of Capital Bank. In retirement she enjoyed Church activities, hosting parties and traveling and cruising with James, her soul mate and best friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home Monday the 24th from 6 to 8 PM and funeral services will be at Highland Oaks Church of Christ on Tuesday the 25th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christian Care Center, 948 Wiggins Pkwy, Mesquite, TX 75150 or to Alzheimer’s Association, Christian Care Center.
